What’s Going on at St. John’s? We are an active parish involved in many aspects of Christian living in College Park and the surrounding areas, and we have fun doing it! We take dinner to Holy Comforter, a parish in Atlanta that serves the mentally disabled. We support (with money, food, and labor) Family Life Ministries, a local ministry to the poor. (You will see a food collection barrel in the back of the church.) We host an AA group. We own and (with lots of help!) operate the Bargain Shop in East Point, which helps clothe the poor and raises money for worthwhile causes. We provide space to Odyssey Family Counseling Center, which provides a variety of mental health services to the community on a sliding-scale fee basis. We support schools and missions in Haiti. We have sponsored a Bosnian refugee family. We sponsored a family living in a shelter for the homeless and helped them become self-sufficient. Our latest project is Begin Again, a supervised visitation center we operate for the Fulton County Juvenile Court. It is a ministry of hospitality and reconciliation for distressed families. This is a place where people are encouraged to serve the Lord! We provide Christian education and special programs for children and adults. We have a great choir and special music programs. We enjoy a variety of fellowship activities. We have periodic work days at the Church in which we enjoy working together for the common good. Our clergy and Pastoral Care Committee keep up with the needs of parishioners. This is a place where people are loved, and they know it!
