Play-Writing Workshop Update

This summer we started learning how to write a play. We looked at the New Testament readings for inspiration. We have reviewed the basic elements of story telling and are in the process of looking at the various biblical characters for their points of view. What do various characters see and hear? How is their view of the actions different from the narrator of the story?

The people involved are very excited about the project. As all of us read the stories there is discussion and illumination taking place. Our imaginations will run wild. If the play writing goes well we may add music to our play. It is our hope that we will produce a play that will bring the message of love found in scripture to the people of our time in the tradition of Godspell, Jesus Christ Superstar and Joseph And His Amazing Multicolor Coat. All These shows are back on Broadway. The group meets on Wednesday nights at 6:30 PM in the church parlor. Philip Maniscalco is moderating this effort. The Play Writing project is an open meeting and all interested people are invited to attend. The only qualification is imagination.
