I am most inspired by the willingness and enthusiasm of those involved to give so much of their time, energy, and resources to benefit our patients. I hope that we can depend on your support of our programs and services in the future, for it is surely needed. With kindest regards, Janice D. Williams, NEW DIRECTORY We are in the process of making a new phone directory. Please check the draft (located in the back of the church and Bott Hall) to be sure your information is there and accurate. Call the church if you can’t check it in person. We want to get it right! CHRISTIAN EDUCATION
From the Pritchetts We want to thank you for the wonderful celebration of our fifth anniversary at St. John’s, and especially for the gift you made in our name to the Camp Mikell Swimming Pool fund. We were deeply touched by both and thank God for the many blessings we have received by being in your midst.
FROM FAMILY LIFE Precious Friends: What a joy it is for me to be able to say thank you for your gifts to Family Life. We have strived to be good stewards as the needs of others were met. I pray for you and ask God to bless you. How can I say thanks for the things you have done for others through the ministry of help at Family Life? Our doors are open each morning at 9:00 am and we invite you to visit if possible and share a cup of coffee or hot tea with us. While you are here, you will be blessed to see God in action through our volunteers being People Helping People. May God bless you and yours. The Rev. Jane Gunter

FROM RUTH HEALY Needed – LEM2’s “We no longer see the church as a community gathered around a minister, but a community of ministries gathered around the Lord," (from a manual for Lay Eucharistic Ministers). Certainly one of our most important ministries is to take the sacrament and our companionship to those who are unable to attend services. With these thoughts in mind the Episcopal Church instituted the role of lay persons as bearers of the (already consecrated) Eucharist to those who are unable to participate in worship in the church. We call these lay people Lay Eucharistic Minister II’s, or “LEM II’s” (LEM I’s are licensed to administer only during church services). You have probably seen us send them forth from Sunday worship with the prayer, “We send you forth bearing these gifts that those to whom you go may share with us in this Holy Communion.” LEM II’s are trained by the clergy and licensed by the Bishop. They do not take the place of visits from clergy, but fill an important role because the clergy simply cannot meet the demand, and because the task of pastoral care should never be viewed as the exclusive job of the clergy. St. John’s has responded faithfully to this call over the years. But, with an increase of elderly and homebound, and a decrease in LEM2’s, the need for more people to respond to this call is clear! We aim to provide communion to folks at least once a month. If any of you are interested in sharing in this ministry, please call me and I will talk over details with you. I can only add that the opportunity and challenge in the work of building up the Body of Christ by bringing Eucharist to those who want it is a gift to this community, and blessings flow to both giver and receiver.
