On February 11, 2010, a newborn baby boy was abandoned in the gazebo outside St. John's. Despite the efforts of emergency medical teams and hospital staff, the baby passed away hours later. Our parish has named the child Baby John Francis, after the name of the church, the man who discovered him, and the small statue of St. Francis which stands in the gazebo. Please continue to pray for John Francis, and his still-unknown parents.

A memorial service for Baby John Francis was held at St. John's on February 14, 2010. You can listen to Fr. Troy's eulogy on the Weekly Sermons page, and watch a news report on the service below.

On September 30, 2010, we gathered at the College Park Cemetery to bury John Francis.

We invite everyone to join us in becoming stronger advocates regarding urban poverty and homelessness, planned parenting, and prenatal care in our community.
