F O Y E R S The Kick-off Potluck dinner for Foyers was held on 2/17/02 and was great. We ate dinner together and had a wonderful time visiting with each other. Joining a Foyer group is one of the best ways for new members to meet new Cathedral friends. Members are randomly assigned in groups of 8 to 10 and meet once a month for six months in each others' homes. There is no program or agenda, just a light, simple meal, and about two hours of fellowship. Some meet on Sundays for brunch after church, while others get together in the evening. Members range in ages and may be single or married, divorced or widowed. We owe the origin of our Foyers groups to the Community of the Cross of Nails, a worldwide Christian community committed to reconciliation and renewal. CCN has its origins in the bombing of Coventry Cathedral in World War II. When the Cathedral was rebuilt, two of the 14th century nails were taken from the wreckage and made into a cross, and the words "Father, forgive" were inscribed above the new altar. The community takes its name and its purpose from that original cross of nails. Warning! Foyers are contagious. Once you join you will want to keep signing up for the next group.
