On October 6, 2001, we celebrated the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi with an Animal Blessing and had our 1st Annual Fall Festival. The main attraction of this day was the Animal Blessing. Many people from the parish and community brought their dogs, cats and even a guinea pig. Jim Pritchett (rector) conducted the service, we (and the dogs) sang "All Creatures Great and Small" and then he blessed each animal. Each animal received a certificate signed by the rector. Jim even blessed a dog via the phone (a 1st for him). The Fall Festival activities for the day included:
It was a great day even if though it was a little cold and windy. Everyone had a great time and we are already planning next years. All proceeds raised went to the Parish Life Commission.
